75 years after VE Day on 8th May 1945, the East Anglian Film Archive created a ten-minute compilation film offering a snapshot of life in the region during the Second World War.

Following the closure of museums and galleries during the COVID-19 pandemic, the BBC’s ‘Culture in Quarantine’ series in April 2020 looked to instead bring the museums and galleries into our homes, offering creative ways for the public to continue to access arts and culture online.

‘Akenfield Now’ explored connections between oral history and teaching and learning, with pupils working alongside teachers to link activities to the secondary school curriculum and beyond.

‘Shifting Grounds’ formed the second part of Film Hub North’s four-year initiative, ‘Changing Times’, a nationwide funding programme supporting screen heritage events that unearth stories from our collective past.

As a significant part of our recent social history, the New Towns movement and its lasting impact on the South East were explored in the 2018 film project, ‘New Towns, Our Town- Stories on Screen’, developed and managed by the Independent Cinema Office.
