A long silent record of the early years of Papworth Hospital and Village Settlement for the treatment of life-threatening and contagious tuberculosis. Before the development of antibiotics, treatment relied upon fresh air and Papworth provided well-ventilated homes and workshops.

A record of the facilities and staff of the hospital filmed by Dr Leslie Groom, radiologist and Medical Officer of Health for the Borough of Wisbech. The audience are encouraged to join the contributory scheme at a penny a week covering the whole family.

Directed by Anthony Asquith, a cast of British cinema stars donated their services to film this dramatised story of a working man who develops tuberculosis, and the opportunities he finds at Papworth to recover his health and return to work. Two versions of the fundraising appeal ending were filmed, as Lord Nuffield made a major donation, and the cinema audience were encouraged to contribute to the rest.
