Justin Fashanu May Be Leaving Norwich City
1980, Norwich (Norfolk)
Popular defender Tony Powell is asked for his views about rumours that Justin Fashanu is to be transferred for a reputed £2 million. Kevin Bond is also leaving the Canaries. For all his talent, Fashanu is chiefly remembered today for being the world’s first openly gay professional footballer, and for committing suicide aged just 37.
