News Newsletters

Our summer 2024 newsletter is out now.

Read the newsletter to discover our upcoming events and other exciting news.

In this edition, we look forward to Heritage Open Days, the annual nationwide festival that allows you to see wonderful heritage… for free! We’ll be celebrating with a film screening at The Archive Centre, Norwich, on Tuesday 10th September. We hope you’ll join us! Booking opens on Monday 19th August, and we recommend reserving your space as numbers are limited.

We also share an interview with artist filmmaker Roger Hewins, who spoke to Graduate Intern Ben Campbell about his practice, the visual appeal of mechanical processes in film, and the importance of including film in exhibitions.

UEA student Juliana Gisler also shares her experience of conducting research EAFA on the International Association for Media and History blog, including some fantastic recommendations of films from our collections.

It’s been a busy time for our team. Not only have we been celebrating the success of the recent Norwich Works exhibition, but we’ve also been meeting colleagues from Film Archives UK, the East of England Regional Archives Council, and more!

And finally, we share curated selections from our collection of travelogues. With many wonderful examples of the travelogue genre in our collections, we’ve shared films that take you off the beaten track through the screen heritage of East Anglia.

A reminder of the joys of recording sunny days and travels on film, we hope these films inspire you to make your own holiday films, whatever your plans may be for this summer.
