The Queen's Visit To Norwich To Open The New County Hall
1968 , Norwich (Norfolk)
Cat no. 208178
A film showing Queen Elizabeth II visiting Norwich for the official opening of the new County Council building.
Filmed by Anglia Television. There is a close up of the Queen’s plane arriving on the runway, flying the Royal Standard. She gets off the plane and greets Sir Edmund Bacon and other formally-dressed people. Next are shots of crowds massed around City Hall. The Queen greets people dressed in civic regalia then goes inside the building to greet the crowds from a balcony. She returns to her car. The next section takes place at Norfolk’s new £2.5m County Council building. We see the foyer, committee rooms and council chamber. We are also shown the adjoining police HQ. The Queen signs some papers and is presented with gifts.
