Sitting in a bathtub floating on a river, local daredevil Walter Cornelius paddles along. A Union Jack flag sits on the floating vessel. Walter takes off his hat and gestures to the crowds of people standing watching from the riverbank. Walter continues to propel himself along the water in the bathtub using a paddle. A dog standing at the riverbank takes a drink of river water. Walter uses a tin pan to bail river water from the bathtub.

Background Information

Walter Cornelius was a bona fide local celebrity in Peterborough. Born in Latvia in 1923, he held numerous world records and was known for his various strongman stunts and daredevil escapades, as well as for being the lifeguard at the local lido.
