Cat no. 206506
Anglia news report, interviews with Michael Caine, Russell Osman and John Wark.
Excerpts from interviews about the production of 'Escape to Victory', in which Michael Caine leads a football team comprised of Allied prisoners of war in a German war camp. Caine talks about the acting advice he gave to the footballers involved, followed by an interview at Portman Road with Ipswich Town players John Wark and Russell Osman who both participated in the film. Wark, a Scottish international, talks about how his only line in the film was dubbed because they couldn't understand his accent. Wark and Osman also talk about their Ipswich teammates Robin Turner and Laurie Siddle, who were cast as footballers in the team of opposing Germans, whilst Michael Caine discusses working with Ipswich Town defender Kevin Beattie, who acted as Caine's stand-in for the football scenes. The excerpts conclude with Wark and Osman sharing anecdotes from the film set.
