Local writer and naturalist Ted Ellis explores the Surlingham Broad, a shallow maze of waterways and marshland linked to the River Yare and the wider Norfolk Broads. From his cottage amongst the Broads, Ellis sets out on a flat-bottomed kayak, punting along narrow waterways and through reeds to areas of open water. Stopping occasionally to collect plant samples, Ellis returns home to examine them under microscopes in his makeshift outdoor laboratory.
