Anglia Reports - Rural Life

1981 , Kenton (Suffolk)

Anglia Television report on the do-it-yourself community action taken by Suffolk villagers at a time of economic recession.

The local shop or primary school, a regular bus service; all contribute to providing a sense of community for villagers. However, at the time of an economic recession, cutbacks in public spending often mean closures. This ‘Anglia Reports’ episode takes a look at some of the community projects that loyal and dedicated villagers in Suffolk have established to tackle the problems that cutbacks have forced upon them. Includes interviews with residents, headteachers, shop owners, and with experts in the field of rural life and community initiatives.
