[Workers Begin Work-In at K Shoes Factory]

1976 , Norwich (Norfolk)

Anglia Television news report from the 'K Shoes' factory where employees are staging a work-in protest.

Workers from the K Shoes factory are staging a 'work-in' in protest against the news of possible redundancies and closure of the factory. All management have been locked out. Anglia Television cameras are permitted onto the premises, and capture employees at work in the shoe factory. Anglia Television correspondent Judy Finnigan interviews the Production Director, David Hawes, who describes the existing situation and communication between management and workers, hinting that not all employees are fully supportive of the protest, and suggesting that perhaps the members of only one of the trade unions involved have instigated the work-in. Interview with Roger Spiller, a union representative for ASTMS, outside the factory, responding to the accusation that his trade union have behaved undemocratically, hoping that management will continue with discussions. Judy Finnigan chats with employees inside the factory.
