Anglia TV news item; vox pops at Norwich's Hay Hill and Haymarket in the city centre - Judy Finnigan and David Henshaw encourage Christmas cheer and a sing-song.

Anglia TV reporters Judy Finnigan and David Henshaw ask Norwich city centre shoppers at Hay Hill and Haymarket for cheery messages and to sing a song for Christmas. David Henshaw asks a man if he has anything to say to keep everyone cheery. The man says, “yes, keep smiling, things are going to improve, they can’t get worse!” Henshaw encourages the man to sing a song. The man refuses the offer but wishes “all the best”. Judy Finnigan asks a man and woman if they have a cheer up message to the nation. The woman says “work harder”, and the man agrees. Finnigan asks another man the same question, and again to a woman with a dog. The woman says she is a fire eater and turns down an offer to sing a song. Finnigan finally finds a man who will sing a song to cheer everyone up at Christmas. The man sings a folk song, “Bungay Roger”. The man then wishes the old people well in particular. Finnigan approaches a man trying to park a car. She asks two women if they think people are depressed. They say yes, and suggest getting drunk to cheer them up. A man suggests that people eat and drink as much beer as they can and have a Rennies for indigestion. He is buying herrings for Christmas dinner. Judy Finnigan encourages a woman to sing a song. She sings “White Christmas”. The song “White Christmas” is played and the picture is black.
