Decimal Currency Used At Auction
1971 , Hull (Yorkshire)
Cat no. 147591
An Anglia Television news report from an auction where people are practising using the new system of decimal currency.
Auctioneers and bidders get to grips with using the new terms of decimal currency prior to the official launch of Decimal Day in the UK - a period marking the beginning of the phasing out of use the old pounds, shillings and pence coinage for the new. The auctioneer is interviewed and observes how people are coping with the transition from old to new money. Reporter Geoff Druett gives a brief lesson in how to convert from the old to new system of pricing goods.
