Begins by showing the prefabricated buildings at the University of East Anglia. Pans across and shows a bike parked along the path and then students coming down the stairs out of the building. Students walk past the camera and various students are interviewed outside. Two tutors are interviewed and give their opinions of the new university. They say that as they are starting out from scratch, every student is a freshman and so they have to show more initiative than in any other institution as there isn’t such clear guidance for them. A student is interviewed outside, where he says that the feel of the University is emerging even though they are still in prefabricated buildings. A girl says that all of the students there are the same age and at the same stage in their university careers. The previous student explains how they eat with the members of staff and visit many of their homes. There is a feeling of informality between the students and staff. Another student praises the lack of formality and how it differs from other universities. Students talk about what will happen when the university expands. They then discuss the debating society, the labour club and the work of the students union. Close ups of various buildings around campus and a number of parked bikes. A student walks up the stairs in front of the camera. Interview with a science tutor who talks about the plans for their own permanent buildings and how the decisions they have made so far are the right ones. He claims to be very proud to be one of the first people to be a part of it. Interview with the senior Biology tutor who talks about the difficulties of starting up a new university and how it will expand in the future. One student says that they hope that the University of East Anglia develops a personality of its own so that it is distinct from all others.
