Background Information

The Goodwin Sands is a notorious sandbank, hundreds upon hundreds of ships have struck and sunk on the Goodwins. The sunken wrecks are various from seventeenth to twentieth century warships to merchant vessels to Dutch East Indiamen. On the 18th July 1940, German bombers sank the East Goodwins Lightship.
