At Cromer seafront, holidaymakers buy fresh boiled crabs from a stallholder. Offshore, fishermen pull baskets of crabs out of the water and unload their catch, before preparing and casting more baskets into the sea. The fishermen return their boat to the shore, with the help of a tractor that pulls the boat up the beach. Holidaymakers gather to watch the freshly caught crabs being sorted, and Dick Joice interviews Fisheries Officer Mr Rushmere, who explains his job is to ensure the catch conforms to the required fisheries standards. The fishermen and Fisheries Officer continue with their work sorting, inspecting and packing the crabs. Dick Joice then interviews “Shrimp” Davies, crabman and lifeboatman, and nephew to Henry Blogg. “Shrimp’ details the day in the life of a crabman, and the seasonal work of fishing for crabs, and argues the crab industry is a thriving one. The freshly caught crabs are boiled and prepared for selling, and a customer buys a crab from a fish stall.
