Brief portrait of the picturesque Suffolk village of Metfield
A short portrait of the village of Metfield for ‘About Anglia’ with commentary over music. The sequence opens with a haystack topped with a sign ‘Best Kept Village 1960’, and a view of the village across fields from Godbold’s farm, with chickens roaming along the hedgerow. An ornamental village sign for Metfield in Hartismere Rural District Council also proclaims ‘Best Kept Village 1960.’ A road sign in the centre of the village and various older houses are shown, as well as a modern bungalow. One cottage has two carved heads set in the wall, possibly from Mendham Priory. The church is seen across the duck pond, then the porch and interior are shown.
