Anglia Television: Interview with Peter Thweeney who is a graduate completing his PhD despite his disability.

Outside in the garden, reporter Paul Barnes asks Peter why he was so keen to get a degree despite his condition. Peter replies that he wished to be an independent self-sufficient person and able to live an independent life as an active member of society. He says that he would like the opportunity to get a job and after he has completed his PhD he wants to become a company lawyer. Paul Barnes comments that company lawyers earn a lot of money and asks whether Peter aims to be rich. He replies that he doesn’t want to be rich for the sake of being rich. He wants to make money because it costs a lot to be disabled. There is a lot of help that he needs but cannot get because of lack of money and he doesn't want to rely on other people's help forever. Paul Barnes states that Peter has already accomplished much more than many people as he has a BA, an MA and is now proceeding with his PhD. Barnes then asks if Peter ever despairs, to which he replies that he does but he overcomes it by praying to God to give him strength. He says that God responds to him as there have been miracles in his life and God has never let him down.
