A report on a racially motivated attack on a Luton mosque by youths.
The report opens with shots of the mosque. It is not a purpose-built mosque, but it appears instead to be a typical two-storey terraced house that is serving as a mosque. The windows are smashed, being temporarily boarded up with cardboard, and wood has been torn off of the door. Owen Spencer Thomas interviews Akbar Dad Khan, who alleges that the youths who attacked the mosque chanted racist abuse and raised their arms to give a Nazi salute. He also alleges that the youths went on to damage a number of Asian-owned shops afterwards. Bedfordshire Police Superintendent Peter Smith plays down the notion that the attack was racially motivated, putting it down to football hooliganism.
