Racing drivers prepare for the race, including Brian Henton who is interviewed.

Racing driver Brian Henton shows a group of children a map of the circuit and talks about the speed at which the cars take the corners. Brian Henton talks about the struggles of his career over the past five years. He is shown putting on his fire helmet and crash helmet. Views of the No. 36 car with Wendy Wools and Divina written down side. Shot of drivers Johnny Cecotto and Divina Galica. A Honda car engine receives attention. Brian Henton talks about the costs of competing in Formula 4, Formula 3, Formula 2 and Formula 1, and the state of the UK economy as a reason for the lack of UK talent coming through. Brian Henton’s car receives attention to the battery. Cars race round the circuit. On the podium after the race, Derek Warwick, driver for Toleman Group, is congratulated and presented with the winner’s garland. Shot of photographers including a film cameraman in the crowd. More applause follows the National Anthem.

Background Information

Toleman driver Brian Henton won the 1980 European Formula Two Championship. James Hunt won the Formula One World Championship in 1976. After retiring from racing in 1979, Hunt became a media commentator and businessman. Divina Galica competed in four Winter Olympics as a skier, captaining the British Women’s Olympic Ski Team in 1968 and 1972. She also pursued a career in motorsport, entering three Formula One World Championship Grands Prix, notable as one of the few female racing drivers competing at the time.
