His Royal Highness Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh is interviewed by Tony Adams of Anglia Television following his official opening of Wolfson College at Cambridge University. Adams asks The Duke about his role as Chancellor of the University, which he describes as ‘to do as he’s asked to do and be seen when he’s invited to be seen.’ The Duke expresses his candid views on questions such as the value of student input, the pursuit of scholarship for scholarship’s sake and academic freedom. When asked to consider individual freedom the Duke contends that “the more we try to control things, the more we inevitably erode freedom of choice/opinion.” Adams concludes by questioning the Duke on the mixed reaction to his predictions about the future of Britain.
