Suffolk horses to be sold at auction, ending two generations of breeding by the Gooch family.

Horse being led in circle in front of crowds at auction. Report by David Richardson explains that the Stud (a stallion, 10 mares and a foal) is being sold to someone with more interest in the breed than the current owner, Sir John Gooch. Prospective buyers approach mare and her foal for a better look. General views of farm equipment and tack, also to be sold. Interview with horses' groom Sidney Smith as he plaits the tail of one of the horses. Close up of plaited tail. Interview with Sir John Gooch, as he explains why he is putting them up for auction. The auction commences, and the auctioneer Godfrey Flick expresses his mixed feelings that the horses are having to be sold. Horse is paraded again, sold for £4000. Interview with Philip Ryder-Davies, Secretary of the Suffolk Horse Society, as another horse is sold for £3300.
