The Mayor congratulates King's Lynn Speedway Riders.
At King’s Lynn Hall, a reception is held to celebrate sporting success. Riders with King’s Lynn Stars Speedway Team, Michael Lee and Dave Jessup, show the Mayor of King’s Lynn their trophy from winning the 1980 Speedway World Championship in Gothenburg, Sweden. The Mayor presents plaques bearing the King’s Lynn arms to the two riders.

Background Information
King’s Lynn Stars Speedway Team were Inter League Knock-out Cup Winners in 1978 and 1980. Michael Lee was a member of the England team that won the World Team Cup in 1977 & 1980 and rode for King's Lynn when he won the 1980 Speedway World Championship in Gothenburg, Sweden. Dave Jessup representing England along with Peter Collins (Belle Vue Aces) won the 1980 World Pairs Final. He was a member of the England team that won the World Team Cup in 1980.
