Thirteen-year-old Miss Dessi beats World Record.
Teenager Miss Dessi is appearing at the Hippodrome Circus, Great Yarmouth as part of the Kehaiovi acrobatic team, members of the Bulgarian State Circus. She enters the ring with 75 hula hoops and steps into them, then twirls them around her body. She is presented with a certificate marking her achievement by entertainer Bob Carolgees, and her World Record will appear in next year’s Guinness Book of Records. The reporter was Lindsay Brooke for this video made to be shown in a news story on Anglia Television early evening news / magazine programme About Anglia.

The Kehaiovi troupe earned two places in the Guinness Book of World Records, a decoration from the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture and the Silver Clown Award. At 13, Miss Dessi (Dessi Kehaiovi, later Dessi España) broke a world record by swirling 75 silver hoops simultaneously around her body. She broke her own record twice, with 88 then 97 hoops. Miss Dessi married Mexican trapeze artist Ivan España during a Ringling Bros. show in 1992. She died in an accident in a circus ring at St Paul Minnesota in 2004.
