Campaign inviting young people to get actively involved in sports.
In a gymnasium in Norwich, Norfolk a group of boys perform breakdancing moves to music in front of a poster board for the campaign “Ever Thought of Sport?”. Brief demonstration of martial arts and football control. Chris Clark, Director of the Eastern Region Sports Council suggests that any physical activity can help get someone switched on to sport. Large numbers drop out of sport because they can’t qualify for the team, but mass participation opportunities are needed. The message is ‘come along and take part, somewhere in there is a sport for you”. Events are being held to launch this campaign around the region including an event at a Luton nightclub. Chris Clark is asked if that is a bit gimmicky. He replies why shouldn’t sport become a bit more commercial in projecting its image? Young players in Norwich City kit give a football demonstration. The reporter is Stuart Jarrold for this video made to be shown in a news story on Anglia Television early evening news / magazine programme About Anglia.
