Scenes of a new temple for the Japanese community around the Shi-Tennoji Institute.
Exterior views of the new Buddhist temple nearing completion on a muddy site at Herringswell Manor, Suffolk where a Japanese community is being established. Interior scene with three men in robes engaged in a ritual and chanting. More exterior views as a woman enters the building which will be used for lessons in martial arts, music and Japanese traditional tea ceremonies, as well as Buddhist rituals and meditation. The Shi-Tennoji Institute opened in the village in April 1986 and most of the pupils come from Japan. The aim is to establish a cultural exchange with English schools and organisations to broaden the outlook and experience of the pupils. The reporter was Greg Barnes for this video made to be shown in a news story on Anglia Television early evening news / magazine programme About Anglia.
