Hangar used by World War II Special Operations Executive is removed to Imperial War Museum.

On the old airfield, the metal frame of the large hangar is being dismantled and sections lowered by crane. The framework is seen against a deep blue sky, and a side view of the hangar with two caravans nearby. Reporter Rebecca Atherstone introduces the story, explaining that some of the wartime heroes operated from Tempsford and Newmarket Heath as these were the two main bases for night operations flying secret agents. Further shots of men dismantling the hangar. Roy Dove of the Imperial War Museum at Duxford explains that from 1942 onwards, this airbase was used solely by the Special Operations Executive. Asked if this hangar will be in keeping with Duxford’s style, he replies that there was a Type T2 hangar at Duxford until it was removed in 1961, and that there will be a notice to explain the history of the Temspford hangar.
