Park House, the birthplace and childhood home of the Princess of Wales, has been turned into a hotel offering country house holidays for disabled people. The Queen visits Park House from Sandringham House close by and meets some of the guests. The funds to convert the house into a specialist hotel were raised through an appeal, to which the Sultan of Brunei gave a quarter of a million pounds. Brief interviews with satisfied guests and with Chris Gurney of Park House Management Committee. A woman guest explains that she was unable to stay elsewhere because she would need to be accompanied by care staff, but here there are trained staff to help her. Some of the guests are residents of Cheshire Homes and an endowment fund will be set up to reduce their charges. Leonard Cheshire talks about the benefit for the husband or wife who is also a carer, as well as for the disabled person, as all can enjoy a break. Guests are aware of the proximity to Sandringham House and feel as if they are guests of the Queen. Park House was given to the Cheshire Foundation by the Queen in 1982.
