Scenes of banners and placards at the Elstow site where Bedfordshire Against Nuclear Dumping (BAND) continue to occupy the site and hinder access for the Nirex drilling team. The protesters are mainly women and children who continue their blockade of the gates and sing to the security guards. They discount the rumour of a split amongst the protest group. North Bedfordshire councillor Michael Dewar is on site with a detailed geological map of the area. He says that a 1970s survey showed that the site would be unsuitable for nuclear waste dumping, and that the Nirex team should now have the opportunity to confirm this for themselves. Mieke Hinchcliffe-Wood of BAND is sceptical and says there should be no drilling on site and Nirex should abandon their plans without testing.
