Suggestion that AIDS test before marriage could become the norm.
Speaking in a studio, the Venerable Bazil Marsh, Archdeacon of Northampton explains why he thinks that men and women planning to marry should take an AIDS test before their wedding. He recognises AIDS as a terrible threat but says there are other risks to a marriage which could be alleviated if detected beforehand. He fears that young people in particular are prepared to play Russian roulette with their health. The reporter Owen Spencer-Thomas says that blood tests are compulsory ahead of marriage in some US states. The Archdeacon says he would not want tests to be compulsory in the UK but would like them to be the norm, so that having a test does not become a personal test of trust between the partners. This video was made to be shown in a news story on Anglia Television early evening news / magazine programme About Anglia.
