Young man travelled to USA to donate his bone marrow.
Chris Trott arrives home after his 10,000-mile round trip to Iowa, USA. He carries his suitcase from the car and is welcomed by his father Artie. Chris signed up to the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Appeal three years ago. This year he received a letter telling him he might be a match for a 33-year-old engineer in Iowa City awaiting a marrow transplant after six years of illness with leukaemia. A photo shows Manny wearing a T shirt referring to his English bone marrow for life. Chris talks about Manny whose chances of survival are now 50 / 50 after the prospect of no chance without a transplant. The next year will be critical for his recovery. Might he need another bone marrow transplant? Chris talks with Manny on the telephone but is hampered by a bad line. The reporter was Stephen Cole for this video made to be shown in a news story on Anglia Television early evening news / magazine programme About Anglia.
