Portrait of young motorcyclist in his first full season of races.
Young motorcyclist Jamie Hitter is shown practising on the Snetterton Circuit. He comes from Carlton Colville, Suffolk and aged sixteen has been making an impact in his first full season, always finishing in the top eight. He still has the small 50cc bike he started riding aged five. Sitting surrounded by trophies, Jamie Hitter recalls his first races and the various ways he built up his experience. Scene of his bikes in the workshop where he strips and rebuilds them, helped by his father Trevor and mechanic friend Paul Teasdale. Brother-in-law John Mitchell, a Lowestoft garage owner, is Jamie’s racing manager and sponsor. Asked how he is accepted as a young rider, Jamie says he’s one of them – out there to beat and be beaten. More scenes of Jamie riding round the circuit as John Mitchell films him with a video recorder. John says the videos help in improving on mistakes and planning to brake for corners as Jamie relives the ride in his living room. Jamie talks about his motocross experience and the benefits of being physically fit. The reporter was Stuart Jarrold for this video made to be shown in a sports news story on Anglia Television early evening news / magazine programme About Anglia.
