Demonstrations of protective clothing for chainsaw users.

Report on testing of protective clothing at the SATRA research station in Kettering, Northamptonshire. In a recent 10-day period, 800 people required hospital treatment after chainsaw accidents. Demonstration of types of boot which will not withstand chainsaw damage – rubber wellington boots and specialist leather boots for forestry. Tests of a yellow boot and a protective fabric show that they are designed to be resistant to chainsaw cutting and will deflect and stop the blade. Senior research officer Bill Worswick explains that the new test rig at SATRA enables these demonstrations of the effectiveness of these products so that their benefit can be measured. The reporter was Greg Barnes for this video made to be shown in a news story on Anglia Television early evening news / magazine programme About Anglia.
