German language studies for pupils at the Lord Grey School, Bletchley.
At the Lord Grey School, Bletchley, Buckinghamshire, classroom scenes of pupils who are the first in the UK to have language lessons based around German television material. The programmes are selected by the teachers for different age groups, but teacher Janet Smith explains the difference is not so much the content as the way the content is being used. She says the pupils find the German programmes stimulating and motivating. Schools programmes are particularly useful, and the aim is to convey the cultural life of Germany and France as well as the language. Scene of sixth formers discussing the material in German. The entire system of satellite dish, remote tracking device and monitors is being provided for the school by a local satellite television company.
