Language teaching at Cambridge Eurocentre.

Scenes filmed around the new purpose-built language centre recently opened in Cambridge. The Cambridge Eurocentre (formerly Davies’s School of English) is one of six language schools in Britain run by the Swiss-based Federation for European Language and Educational Centres and is the most modern in Europe. Students who come to study for 1-3 months are seen in a classroom and working at computers with a range of specialist translation and teaching equipment to support their studies. Frank Heyworth, Head of English Schools Eurocentres Foundation explains why English language training is such a multi-million-pound business, with so many people wanting English as their second language. Michael Carrier, Head of Language Centre describes the appeal of computer-based learning for the students compared with training delivered by a human teacher. Anglia TV reporter Greg Barnes talks about student fees and the way the Eurocentres are subsidised through the cultural and educational programme of a Swiss supermarket and banking company. This video was made to be shown in a news story on Anglia Television early evening news / magazine programme About Anglia.
