Interview with human rights solicitor Louise Christian concerning the proposed deportation of Amanullah Khan.
Interview filmed for an Anglia Television news report that lawyers acting for Amanullah Khan, leader of the Kashmiri Liberation Front based in Luton, have applied for a writ of habeus corpus. A photograph of Amanullah Khan is shown. Solicitor Louise Christian says they are very concerned that Mr Khan was rearrested in court after being acquitted of all charges. The planned deportation for reasons of national security implies that the Home Office does not accept the verdict of the trial jury. Mr Khan’s campaigning will be restricted if he is deported to Pakistan. Louise Christian makes the point that the UK government supports the independence of the Kashmiri people, and has supported this position in the United Nations, but the deportation of Mr Khan will deprive the Kashmiri people of their spokesperson. The reporter was Surrey Beddows for this video made to be shown in a news story on Anglia Television early evening news / magazine programme About Anglia.
