Oranjeboom Touch Dance Team and local competition.
In Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire, a crowd surrounds a group of young men dancing outdoors to a ghetto blaster and demonstrating their moves. They spin on a floor mat. Anglia TV reporter Greg Barnes explains that break dancing began on the streets of New York with bored unemployed youngsters body popping to while away the time. He says it has rapidly spread to the UK where it is becoming accepted as legitimate entertainment, if not a new art form. Billy and Leroy are part of the Oranjeboom Touch Dance Team travelling around the country giving demonstrations. One of them shows how to do a wave and a pop and run the two together. He stresses that you’ve got to be enjoying it and says of course it is an art form. The Cross Keys pub at Leighton Buzzard sponsored a competition for local body popping dancers and of the 90 entrants, the six finalists are dancing at this event. This video was made to be shown in a news story on Anglia Television early evening news / magazine programme About Anglia.
