Christmas lunch party for children, many with special needs. The children arrive in decorated black taxis at Harlow Moat House Hotel in Harlow, Essex. They sit at long tables decorated with balloons and enjoy the meal and drinks. Celebrities present are Frank Bruno and Steve Davis who are giving autographs. Frank Bruno answers children’s questions about HP Sauce (which he advertises) and his next boxing fight against Mike Tyson, and the Anglia TV reporter asks about his popularity with the ladies. Snooker player Steve Davis jokes about having free time after a recent defeat. People wear costumes of the witch Grotbags from the Rod Hull television show Emu's World, the Pink Panther, Orville the Duck and other comic characters. The party marks a year of events organised by Essex Police and regional crime squad officer Mike Jackson who has helped raise thousands of pounds to fund sports facilities for the children. Many of the children have overcome major handicaps to complete in a wide range of sports. Mike Jackson says it’s good to have an event for children where they can be stars for a day. The reporter was Surrey Beddows for this video made to be shown in a news story on Anglia Television early evening news / magazine programme About Anglia.
