Closure of Still Waters home in Essex.

Scenes of house exterior and grounds at Still Waters, a former rectory owned by the Diocese of Chelmsford near Basildon / Wickford, Essex. Walking in the garden and petting a pony are Eyan Law and Ruth Law. For four years they ran Still Waters as a home for people trying to give up heroin and 60 addicts received help in that time. Now the residents have left, and the couple and their four children must find an alternative home. Trying to buy the house and land, the couple received a valuation of £85,000 and say that money was pledged by local backers. The Church of England owns the building and requires a separate valuation after the Laws have left. Rev Chris Band, Press Officer for the Diocese of Chelmsford says the church has supported the project over many years, particularly since 1982 when the work with drug users began. He says that an agreement for Church House Trust to take over the property has not been fulfilled, so the Diocese is taking possession. The reporter was Owen Spencer-Thomas for this video made to be shown in a news story on Anglia Television early evening news / magazine programme About Anglia.
