Young people taking part in Norwich local heat meet Chico Johnson, World Champion.
Young people take part in the Norwich local heat of a competition across 30 UK towns for the 1985 hula hoop championships. World Champion Chico Johnson gives advice on technique. The 1960s hula hoop craze is enjoying a revival. David Heartfield says that national championships were held last year and again this is popular with the final to be held at Alton Towers. The youngest competitors seem to take to it naturally. Chico Johnson gives a demonstration keeping multiple hoops spinning. He says this is a form of dance, and the art is to make it look easy. He entered the Guinness Book of Records spinning 81 hoops but will not be revealing his secret. The reporter was Rebecca Atherstone for this video made to be shown in a news story on Anglia Television early evening news / magazine programme About Anglia.
