Pupils and teacher visit their window installed at Bedford's Town Centre Library.

The camera points down from the children’s library of the County Library building in Bedford town centre to a group of schoolchildren walking past. They are 4th year pupils at the John Howard School and in their art class together they designed a colourful stained-glass window which has been installed at the library. Details including the pupils’ signatures on the glass. Anglia TV reporter Peter Lugg interviews Carina Thomas, one of the pupils. She explains how they researched and selected images for the design including emblems of the school and locality and Halley’s comet and the Giotto satellite to represent 1986. More close-ups of the window including a lion and the dragon chosen because the window is for the children’s library. Anita Omitogun, Artist in Residence at the school explains that she began with each pupil working on individual designs for small windows a foot square. She says the most important aspect of the project has been learning to work together and communicate as a group. This video was made to be shown in a news story on Anglia Television early evening news / magazine programme About Anglia.
