Anglia Television news report from Duxford on the recently acquired B29 Superfortress Bomber.

Chris Young commentates as the Boeing B29 Superfortress – a bomber aircraft used in service during World War II - lands on the runway at Duxford. Skip Cregier, a United States Army Air Force pilot, is interviewed, explaining the logistics of relocating the historic aircraft - “the great big old piece of junk” as he refers to it - from California to the UK. The aircraft was donated to the Imperial War Museum by the United States Navy and Geoff Bottomley, Chief Engineer, details the restorative work to be done to the aircraft, and explains why the museum wanted to acquire it. The interview continues in the cockpit of the Superfortress with Mr Bottomley recalling the part the aircraft played in the atomic bombings of Japanese territory in the final months of World War II. At Duxford many people gather to take a look at the B29 that is grounded on the runway.
