Paul Barnes reports for Anglia Television, introducing the viewer to Wyn Davies, a Welsh man now living in Suffolk who is a dab hand with a scythe. Wyn demonstrates to Paul Barnes how to operate the scythe cutting nettles in a field. Paul Barnes takes a carborundum stone from his pocket to use to sharpen the scythe. Wyn shows Paul a more traditional method to sharpen the scythe blade, using a wooden block, fat, and sandstone grit. Paul and Wyn continue to scythe the field of nettles. A final shot shows a donkey hee hawing.
