Stop-motion animation of matchstick men playing cricket, by Hertfordshire film pioneer Arthur Melbourne-Cooper.

A group of matchstick men play a game of cricket in this stop-motion animation by pioneering filmmaker Arthur Melbourne-Cooper, originally produced to promote Bryant & May brand matches. It was later included in an issue of the Around the Town cinemagazine, where it was given the screen title of 'Cricket - Vestas v. Pine'. A matchstick man enters the frame carrying matchstick wickets, which he sets up in the corner of the room. Walking off-screen, he returns with another set of wickets and a matchstick bat, and is followed by another matchstick man carrying an extra large ball. The pair play cricket until the batsmen hits the ball away, leaning on his bat as the bowler runs to retrieve it. Changing ends, the batsmen is bowled out and the pair change places and are joined by a third matchstick man who sees out the game.
