Ornithologist and broadcaster Eric Simms presents a series of BBC-produced educational documentaries created specifically for viewing in schools. Following programmes based in the south-west of England and across the Channel in Normandy, Simms brings his conversational tone to the East Anglian sea port and market town of King's Lynn, encouraging children to compare it to towns in their own region. Examining the history of King's Lynn, Simms explores its transportation links, unique architecture and civic celebrations, as well as exploring its ancient market places and modern redevelopments. A tidal sea port on the River Ouse, Simms visits King's Lynn's Fisher Fleet harbour for small fishing vessels as well as its modern commercial docks, where ships from Europe unload imported cargo, undergo repairs and are reloaded with items for export. The programme concludes with Simms asking viewers to consider their local area and how it might compare to King's Lynn.
