The man models the suit in front of the camera as the voiceover explains the benefits of a good suit. Shot of another man wearing a suit throwing his glass on the floor. Shot of a man wearing a suit on a sofa next to a woman. Another man in a suit smokes a cigar as the commentator claims that they have a suit for everyone. Writing comes up on the screen reading, ‘Merryweather Menswear, Sun Lane, Newmarket, Telephone 2466.’ The advert ends with a shot of a man posing in a suit.

Background Information

Merryweather Menswear was a popular local fashion retailer in Newmarket, Suffolk. Ralph Merryweather and his wife Gwyneth worked together in their Newmarket menswear shop, which was located on Sun Lane, for more than 40 years. Advertising at the local cinema offered local businesses a great opportunity to show off their goods to potential customers.
