At the fete at Newhouse, there are shots of the stalls, including a darts stall. People in eighteenth-century costume dance and this is followed by further shots of the fete, including people playing tennis. There are initial dark, interior scenes of the horticultural show. People enter the hall. Inside there are shots of the exhibits and of the prizes. At a fairground, there are children in swingboats and then shots of them playing football. There is a shot of a pig and then shots of the crowds at the funfair. There are shots of sports events, including a girls' three-legged race, a skipping race, and an egg and spoon race. There are scenes from this in slow motion. There is a tug-of-war and a wheelbarrow race, with people actually in wheelbarrows. The section finishes with night scenes of the fun fair. Shots of a tea party for the Terling and Fairstead branch of the British Legion show people sitting at a long trestle table. There are scenes of a bowls match and of putting. The final scenes show the village in winter. The sails are turning at the mill and there is snow on the ground. Mr. Goodday comes out of a house with a reel of film. He bows to the camera and the film ends.
