Market day at St Ives, Cambridgeshire.

This opening shot is of the offices of the `St. Ives Weekly News' and the `Cambridge Evening News' on Crown Street. Further street scenes show the market cross or a similar structure. People and traffic are in the streets. The film shows further shots of Crown Street, this time showing Hepher's Electrical Shop. There is a shot of a butcher's window. In the Market Place two police officers stand talking. The camera zooms out to show the market in front of the National Westminster Bank. There are shots of people in the market, talking, shopping and eating. Stalls shown include a shoe stall and a flower stall. The film shows the statue of Oliver Cromwell in front of the Church. Returning to the market, there are further shots of stalls, including clothing stalls and a greengrocer's stall. Several women shoppers push buggies carrying young children. The film leaves the market with a medium range shot showing the Church in the background. There is a shot of the plaque of the offices of St. Ives Town Council and the area office of Huntingdonshire District Council. The final sequence shows St. Ives bridge. The houses in this area are of an older style. People by the river feed the swans and drink beer. Shots over the river show traffic on the A14. There is a shot of a Ford transit van crossing the bridge. The final shots shot the bus station in the town.
