The Derby of 1918 is won by a woman.

The first sequence shows crowd shots, including one of a group of soldiers. The second sequence is a shot of the horses parading in the paddock before the race. The horse line up at the start. The film shows the start of the race and further race scenes. At the end a section of the crowd is rushing towards a given point. This maybe to see the end of the race or to congratulate the winner.

Background Information

The Derby of 1918 was run at Newmarket. Soldiers were billeted on Epsom. This was the only Derby run away from Epsom. The woman in question was the horse's owner.
