Queen Alexandra unveils the memorial to Edith Cavell.

The film opens with a long shot, showing crowds gathered around a memorial. A statue, covered with a Union Flag is unveiled. The Royal Party then drive away. In the next shot some of the public are presented to a regal woman. There are dignitaries, including a Mayor and a senior army office in the background. The next shots show soldiers, some from the Indian Army, entering a trench. A long shot reveals this to be in woodland. These shots are probably staged. The final sequence shows the state funeral of Nurse Cavell at Westminster Abbey, London in 1919. After the ceremonial procession, soldiers lift the coffin from the carriage and carry it into the Abbey.
