The Suffolk Show which was held in Ipswich in 1957
The first sequence of this film shows the preparations for the Suffolk Show at Ipswich in 1957. Men are filmed erecting the marquees and other stands. There are views of the showground showing other scenes of preparation. Exhibits of farm machinery are brought in by lorry. A steam train approaches sidings. There is a shot of the goods wagons that are unleaded by crane onto a waiting lorry. At the showground there are scenes of cars and of the animals arriving. These include goats, horses, one with a foal, cattle and sheep. At the railway sidings the Household Cavalry lead their horses off the train. There are shots of the police and of the crowds waiting in the town. The Household Cavalry mount their horses and ride through the town to the showground. There are overhead scenes of cars driving to the showground and then ground level scenes show a traffic policeman directing traffic and car parking. There is a shot of the turnstiles on entry and of the crowds around the showground. The final scenes show judging one of the horse competitions.

The Suffolk Show was held in Ipswich in 1956, 1957 and 1958. we are not sure which is shown in this film.
